The first thing that comes to mind is where this lens came from or was from. Does anyone get what I am saying.

Yeah, we discussed that the last time one of these was on e-bay. The seller seems to have a backstory for the lens, so I would have to assume he could give all the info as to where it came from.

Interesting albeit incredibly tacky photographs with the copyright across the center of each of the images. I wonder who they think is going to rip them off?

What would lead you to believe that it was "ripped"? It clearly says in the add that the fresnel was decommissioned from the lighthouse. It was probably replaced by some other lighting mechanism and sold off at auction or as surplus. There have been several fresnel lenses for sale on ebay over the last few years. The current lense at Seagirt lighthouse in New Jersey was purchased on ebay.

Bidding has ended on this at $30,300USD.

I knew Sea Girt's 4th order had been acquired thru ebay, but I'm not sure what they ended up paying for that one. The 3 1/2 from the other recent ebay auction received no bids, and from looking at the sellers activity hasn't been relisted, yet anyway.
