Hey guys,

Has anyone here seen any fresnel lens replicas, in a lighthouse or as someone's personal item?

Has anyone ever seen the ones offered by Claflin & Son?

I would appreciate any info given!
Thanks,
Beth

Beth,

Ponce Inlet has a 6th order replica on display in it's lens room, as can be seen in this photo. In fact Ponce will sell you a 4th order lens (see their merchandise page

Also Anclote Keys Lighthouse has a working replica 4th order acrylic lens in the lantern. I worked with this lens quite a bit when I used to volunteer out at the light station. It seems to be holding up well in the heat and sun of Florida.

Artworks Florida made both of these lens. They were the group that helped restore the shoot out first order at St Augustine.

Eric, do you remember how tall the fourth order lens is?

Eric, here is a good link for the average sizes of the Fresnel lens

http://www.michiganlights.com/fresnel.htm

Hey lets go in on halfs of a 6th order, you buy one half I'll buy the other half, then we'll split it in 2 at the seems.

Thanks Pharoslvr and Eric.

Slowly very slowly I am getting more knowledge on lens. Great website (now one of my favorites).
