Just got back from a lighthouse trip? Have you just finished photographing every aspect of one lighthouse? Post the pictures here! Lighthouse-related photos are also welcome.

I know that there are some great things to be said about this lighthouse and the trip over. Here is one photo to get it started.

Very nice closeup, Stephen!
You can even see the brick "tie-courses," a method used by some mason's in the olden days.
Did you guys ever figure out what that pipe is, that is sticking up off the
old lantern room floor? Is it some kind of a flu?

Thanks, Stephen....look forward to seeing many more photos! :)

Well, what we were told...and they had photos, the lantern room was an open cage, and that pipe is where the light was mounted.

When you say "They had photos", does that mean photos of the Tower with it's Lantern Room and Lens on it? Because that would be very interesting to see.

Yes, they (the city of Southport) had photos. A photo of the tower with the open cage and the pole was posted on the wall in the Visitor's Center in Southport and we asked the historians about it.

That same photo was in a NC newspaper not long ago.

What an interesting light! It looks like it sits in the middle of the woods. Is there water nearby?

Yes, the water is behind me and to the left. I have some photos from the other side and you can see the water if you would like me to post one?

Here it is. I am sorry that it is a bit dark, but the lighting was not the best. I accidentally got the passenger ferry in the shot too. \:D/

Working on them now. But with a dial up connection, I'm not getting very far this evening. :( Thanks for posting your photo from the other side.
