Kevin,
Here's a scan of the cover unaltered. This is as close as I could get it to what I visually had in front of me to compare to.
Hope this gives you an idea of what folks who have seen the cover are talking about
vs. the image as submitted that I posted above.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have another cover to the collection (BTW, Brent, I don't know what the actual total is but I think its somewhere in the range of 15-20) but I really do wish they would be more careful in preserving the photographic integrity of what was submitted when they publish using any photographer's work. You don't get a copy to proof and you hence can't comment and ask them to get it right and what they eventually publish does reflect back on the person whose name is in the photo credit be the result good or bad. This goes with the LH Digest's photo contest rules and them asserting that they can use contest images as they see fit, which is why I DON'T submit anything to that photo contest any more if you would like to know the truth.
As for the new walkway, if the NPS happens to read this, in my opinion, keeping the tourist's feet dry has significantly detracted from the appeal of photographing Ocracoke in this photographer's opinion. Give me back the soggy boardwalk ANY TIME
