Fletcher's Neck LSS plus ...

Just got back from a lighthouse trip? Have you just finished photographing every aspect of one lighthouse? Post the pictures here! Lighthouse-related photos are also welcome.

... a little of this ... a little of that ...

A few weeks back ... on the 26th of August ... there was an open house in Portsmouth (NH) ... I could tell you how a visit to Ocean Grove by Johnny Mathis cemented my decision to make the trip but that would take some time to explain ... whatever, it was a chance to meet up with Ross and Jeremy ... and a chance to meet Carole ... and a 30 hour, 800+ mile trip ...

My first obejective was to be at Nubble at dawn ...

(Whoops! Posted the wrong picture ... Will correct and repost it this evening! )

Next was meeting up with Carole ... I meant to meet her on the way back from Jeremy's Stonington expedition a few autumns back but it didnt work out ... Carole took me on a grand tour which included out of the ordinary viewing spots for both Cape Porpoise and Wood Island Lights as well as lunch at a waterside joint called The Ramp

The unexpected jewel of the journey was the Fletcher's Neck LSS ... now a private residence ... so many of the shots were cluttered with many, many autos ...but this should give a flavor for the beautiful restoration that was done ...

... and this was just a shot that was begging to be taken ... so I did ...

... afer that was the being introduced to Rixie at the fundraising art show, the open house at Portsmouth Light, and the long, long trip back to NJ ...

Yes, Barry and I had an adventure that morning. He drove up to Biddeford to meet me. I got to play a tour guide of the area. (Which I am still discovering).

We went to the Hills Beach area of Biddeford where you can see both Wood Island Lighthouse off in the distance and the Pool as we local call it.

It was then on to Biddeford Pool which is near by. I did not tell Barry about going to Fletchers Neck LSS. Barry was following me and I drove in such a way so he got to see the best view of the LSS. It was too bad about the cars being in front of the it.

The shot of the boat and Wood Island Lighthouse was taken from the nature center. It very nice of the boat to be going by at the correct time.

It was then on to Cape Porpoise if we had lunch upstairs at Pier 77 we could have had a direct view of the lighthouse. We ate downstairs in the informal part of the restaurants. I explained to Barry that at low tide and if you are quick about it you can walk out to the lighthouse and back.

It was great to finally meet Barry.

Thank you Barry for doing such a good job of following me (driving in his SUV). I got lost several times during the trip down to Portsmouth.

Barry,
What happened to the first photo you posted of Nubble? I thought it was breathtaking. I couldn't stop looking at it.

If what 's to follow is even better...oh my!

I am very blessed to live here in Maine. I have also taken sometime to check out places to view lighthouses that most people do not know of.

In this part of Maine tourists are apart of life, so for the most part people are very understanding if you stop and take pictures near where they live.

Oh, Barry I have more to show you in Maine.
