I've been there a few times. My mother used to live in Englewood, FL which is about 15 miles away from the LH.

She very seldom went to Boca Grande- she refused to pay to cross the bridge over to the island.

You can also get right up to the Range LH on the other side of the island from Boca Grande. you drive right past it on the way to Boca Grande.

It's a beautiful small town with some very nice beaches and park areas. It got hammered a few years ago by several hurricanes in one year but they've repaired most of the damage.

The two trips we've made to the lighthouse were both day trips from the St. Pete area. The lights and beaches were well worth the trip down.
