...it was decommissioned in 1914 when the old channel to the Kalamazoo River was covered over by sand.
The lighthouse was eventually sold to the Deam family. Norm Deam’s father, Arthur, an architecture professor at the University of Illinois, bought the 10.8 acres of property and four buildings for the minimum bid of $1,500, according to a 2007 Holland Sentinel article.

Thanks for posting that, Sue -- I hadn't seen that photo before -- from what I've read, some of that was salvaged to build the present Lighthouse "Summer Cottage"..............
