We made our presentation on erecting a replica of the 1912-1924 Petoskey breakwater
light before a hearing of the City Parks Commission last night. Happily there was only one
negative comment voiced by a citizen, with all other comments being overwhelmingly
positive. After public comment, the Parks Commissioners voted in favor of recommending
the project be approved by the City Council. It is hoped that the project can be added to
the agenda for the City Council for a vote next Monday.
The image below was displayed on an easel during the hearing. It was created at the Parks
Manager’s request by the City’s park architects to give the community an idea of how the
replica might appear in the park.
The park is located right on US 31, on a steep bluff, approximately 70 feet above the water,
and can be seen from the entire water front, making it an excellent location for the replica.

Here is a report on the hearing from today's Petoskey News-Review.
