...And I always thought Sullivan's Island was an ugly lighthouse. :?

I have as well- but in addition it's always been a favorite of mine since I first saw photos of it.

I've actually been to see it up close and personal as well. I'd love to actually be allowed into it but that isn't likely to happen.

I've got some photos that actually show both the "new" and "old' Charleston Lighthouses- those being Sullivan's and Morris Island LH's respectively. There may actually be one somewhere here on this site- I'll have to do a search later.

I've seen it and the Morris Island light, on a ferry to Fort Sumter. Sullivan's Island was on the left, and Morris Island was on the right. I really wish I could've seen them closer.

Now I feel bad because I have been able to Climb Sullivan's Island twice. It's a unique climb. About 20 flights of stairs and then 2 sections of vertical ladder. The first is about one story and the second is about two stories straight up into the lantern.

No lights are ugly, Tiny....They all have their own 'Inner Beauty'.....Some are just different, and that's what makes being a lighthouser fun....The Variety.

Nah, Sullivan's Island is ugly - not that there's anything wrong with that.

... and 'ugly' is an opinion. It's ugly compared to most other things you can call "lighthouses".
