Not just this lighthouse but extinguish all with the exception of some essential range lights serving the needs of large ships. A significant cost saving. This is based on the belief that electronics, gps and associated computers are totally reliable, but which they are not.

Who said that turning off the lighthouse would turn off every other light in the area? The lighthouse is the only one that is shedding light on the turtles' habitat.

Sea turtle advocates battle(?) lighthouse preservationists.

South Florida boaters say this about the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse: Let the light shine.
Sea turtle advocates say this: Dim the light, let the turtles live.
(And the turtles say: #-o )
