I took a short detour to Havre de Grace on the way home from New York this Sunday...

If I had rotated this I would've had to make the picture extremely small

There are two pips in a beaut, four beauts in a lulu, eight lulus in a doozy, and sixteen doozies in a humdinger. No one knows how many humdingers there are in a lollapalooza.
What is that indentation in the tower wall at the right of the door? It is not visible in Google images of this tower although that horizontal groove above Tiny may be seen in some images.
This is not an indentation in the tower. From a bit of detective work it was determined this is a shadow, the diagonal shadow of the nearby flag pole and the horizontal shadow of the flag flying on the pole.
Yeah, it was a very windy day... also very sunny! It took a few tries to get the second shot

The evidence that this was a shadow is in the third photo where the diagonal dark line is very straight and at the bottom of the tower it extends off at an angle in the grass thus a shadow. I suspected from this and from the first and second photo that the pole and flag were likely the cause of the shadow. It was a subsequent internet image search that revealed the additional photo showing the flag and pole casting a shadow on the tower.
Lighthouse detective work is often challenging and frustrating. An example of such was recently to attempt to identify the location of this lighthouse boathouse. It is a unique design with the extension on the left side compared to other boathouses. Boathouses were rarely photographed for often located some distance from the lighthouse. I could find no similar photo on the internet so I searched several books and just plain luck eventually found the second photo, an aerial photo that I have cropped for display here. The "fence" beside the boathouse is a type of seawall to protect the boathouse from frequent storm waves. The location is Libby Island Light in Maine
